Celebrating of Women in Technology in the Lower Mekong

As part of the gender balanced and female empowerment focus, USAID COMET co- organized the workshop “Women in Tech: Celebration of Women in Technology in the Lower Mekong Countries.” This event was initiated by Dr. Geraldine Richmond, Presidential Chair and Professor of Chemistry, University of Oregon with the goal of empowering and supporting women to succeed in the STEM workforce where they are underrepresented in most of the Lower Mekong sub-region, USAID COMET supported 27 female students in science and technology from 10 universities in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam to participate in the event. These participants were young women who demonstrated passion for becoming future leaders in technology as indicated by their future goals, academic interests, professional experiences, and community involvement
