Overview of Institution and Motivation for Joining MS2W :

The University of Danang (UDN) is central Vietnam’s largest university system, comprising of 11 different colleges and universities. The University of Danang’s MLC grant is administered at the UDN Administration level, but the MekongSkills2Work Sourcebook will be implemented by five members of the Faculty of IT at the University of Science and Technology (refereed to as both UDN-DUT and UDN-UST). While the MLC courses will be taught exclusively out of UDN-DUT this year, the five MLC instructors teach courses across the UDN-DUT, the College of IT, and the VN-UK Institute, creating excellent opportunities for MPI expansion in Year 2 by leveraging this core set of faculty.

Established in 1994, the University of Danang aims not only to become the leading multidisciplinary research university in the Central Highlands area, but a prominent, prestigious university on a national level. A core tenant of this strategic vision is to prepare UDN’s students to enter ASEAN’s rapidly evolving job market by equipping them with work readiness skills in addition to the “hard skills” aligned to students’ academic majors of choice. Over the past decade, UDN has embraced numerous regional and global multinational partnerships with education institutions, governments, and industry to achieve its strategic vision. The implementation of MekongSkils2Work, funded via USAID COMET, represents one of these many efforts facilitated by the University’s Department of International Cooperation.
